A slight aside but here is a mix I threw together yesterday after thinking about it for a while….the name speaks for itself.

Massive hit for Sugar Minott. Many versions exist including a slightly altered version which appeard as International Herb on Wackies. This version features some great 80s electronic drum and synth sounds courtesy of Sly and Robbie’s production and of course killer rhythm section grooves provided by them as well. The B side has some killer steel drum-ish clangs going on throughout. Weird, catchy, and all around great.
Sugar Minott- Herbman Hustling
Late 70s Production featuring the Channel One house band, The Revolutionaries. Couldn’t find too much info about this one but it appears to be a Joe Gibbs production. The toasting was from a Trinity DJ version, not sure who did the original vocals that float in and out but they are nice. Rootsy Sly and Robbie workout with some nice organ licks. This single has 2 slightly different dubs so compare and contrast….Enjoy…

Mid 70s instrumental version of The Abyssinians anthem that must be one of the most versioned roots tunes out there. Great melodica playing (of course) and a killer King Tubby dub on the b side. Solid vibes…
